The miswak or siwak is a natural tool for brushing teeth. It is derived from the roots of the Arak tree, particularly in the Arabian Peninsula, and in parts of Asia, the tree is known as Peelu. Miswak is a natural multi-purpose stick that cleans and whitens the teeth and refreshes the breath, and is widely used in the Islamic world. The use of the sewak is recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and salvation on him).

Research shows that the bark of the 'toothbrush' tree helps remove plaque formation in the mouth.
Miswak, naturally contains many components such as fluorine, astringents, detergents, resins (a possible enamel protector) and abrasives.
Directions for use: Simply burn the bark of the tip (1/2 '), then gently chew the tip until the brush looks like a brush and the fiber becomes soft. Brush the teeth horizontally and frequently. When the hair is worn and the flavor has soothed, turn off the hairs and repeat the instructions. No dentifrice required.
Miswak is also spelled as Miswaak, Meswak, Miswaq or Meswaq. In Arabic, it is also known as sewak. Some people prefer to spell it as sewak, siwak, siwaak, and so small variations.
