The senate (cassia angustifolia), a plant that grows in the wild in Arabia, is cultivated in Sudan and has laxative effects, acting on the large intestine about 10 hours after ingestion, causing soft stools. It is to be used in case of occasional constipation, not long-term, due to long-term irritant effect (risk of loss of mineral salts). This plant is also used for roqya.
